Physical and Emotional Abuse

Taking a Stand: Emotional Abuse and Violence Prevention

Physical and emotional abuse takes on many forms, including pushing, choking and hitting to verbal taunting, threats, spreading rumors, extortion, and intimidation. This type of abuse can come from friends, boyfriends and girlfriends, parents and other trusted adults, or people that are unknown to the victim. Through information, programs, and activities made available to SADD chapters, we strive to inform and empower teens (victims and bystanders) to break the cycle of abuse in any form and to be a source of strength for other teens who may need help.

What We Are Doing About It: SADD chapters have access to a wealth of information and prevention programming in the areas of bullying, violence prevention, dating violence, and hate crimes.
